My name is Laura Prince and yes....
I know how it feels to have chronic muscle pain.
In 1994 I was in a serious automobile accident. I broke my sternum and jammed together several vertebrae in my neck. As my body healed from this trauma, I suffered from intense pain and began searching for relief.
Thankfully someone suggested seeing a neuromuscular massage therapist. The therapist's strong, deep pressure helped my healing muscles to relax and I began to feel better even after my first visit. Massage therapy became a major part of my recovery process and is still an essential aspect of my health and well being today.
Because of the changes in my bone structure due to the auto accident, my neck and shoulder muscles tend to contract and stay that way, causing points of tension and daily headaches. The only way I have found to manage the debilitating headaches is with regular neuromuscular massage therapy (NMT). A massage therapist trained in NMT will know how to quickly identify the points of tension, or trigger points, associated with each person's muscular condition and the appropriate techniques to release the contracted muscles.
When I gained an opportunity to return to school in the fall of 2008 I knew I wanted to become a massage therapist. I knew how much massage therapy was helping me and I wanted to help others gain relief from their chronic, painful, muscular conditions. I researched massage schools all over Georgia and decided to attend Georgia Massage Institute in Winder Georgia. I chose GMI because they offer a comprehensive education in neuromuscular massage therapies based on the extensive research and practices of Dr. Janet Travell and Dr. David Simons, the first specialists of trigger point therapy. As my massage practice developed I became more interested in the soothing help of energy healing, specifically Reiki. I have seen tremendous results in my Reiki clients. They have less pain, anxiety and more peace in their lives. Personally, Reiki has deepened my relationship with the divine creator, helped heal relationships and facilitated authentic personal spiritual growth.
